Highgate House – Consultation
Please see the below correspondence to residents from Chris Heaton Harris MP with a link to his consultation:
Thank you to the many residents who provided their email to my team today in Creaton during the meeting to discuss the Home Office’s decision to use Highgate House Hotel to accommodate asylum seekers.
As mentioned, I received an update from the Home Office this morning that they plan to run a consultation on Highgate House as a site. This follows multiple direct conversations between me and the Minister for Immigration, as well as meetings between the Home Office, West Northants Council, and local stakeholders.
Please find below a consultation portal on my website which should be shared with local residents impacted by this decision. The page also includes my most recent update to residents and my thoughts on the matter, which I hope you will find useful.
I have asked residents to submit 3 main points in response to Highgate House in Creaton being used by the Home Office to ensure we are as concise as possible. So far, I have been raising concerns around the rural location, impact on local primary healthcare services, local schooling, policing and anti-social behaviour, transport, and the lack of facilities in Creaton.
I have requested a time scale for how long the consultation will run and I will update residents as soon as possible on this.
As ever, please feel free to continue to email me with any questions/issues on this or any other matter.
